$157,000 drugs seized from cars, drug hideout

SINGAPORE - Heroin weighing a total of 1.4kg was seized from a Singaporean man and a Malaysian man on Friday morning. Cannabis, 'Ice' and 'Erimin-5' tablets were also found in the operation.

In total, the drugs seized have an estimated street value of $157,000. Another man and two women were also arrested in relation to the case.

Of those arrested, three Singaporean men were travelling in cars at Yio Chu Kang road during the operation. One of them, a 32-year-old, tried to escape by ramming his car against a vehicle driven by a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officer. A total of 45.6g of cannabis was seized from him.

Another man, also 32, was travelling in a second car when he was arrested. CNB officers seized a bundle of heroin from his vehicle.

CNB officers later arrested two women, aged 27 and 28, for suspected drug abuse in a hideout used by a 45-year-old suspect. CNB officers seized 21g of 'Ice' and 10 'Erimin-5' tablets from the hideout.

A Malaysian man, 22, who was travelling on a motorcycle at a petrol station along Tampines Street 34, was also arrested. CNB officers seized two bundles of heroin from him.
