16 appointed to National Council on Problem Gambling committee

SINGAPORE - The Acting Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Chan Chun Sing, has appointed members to the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) for the next two-year term starting from August 31.

The 16-member committee will continue to be chaired by Mr Lim Hock San and will add 7 new members while 4 others will be retiring after having served 6 to 8 years each.

The committee comprises of members with a wide range of expertise in psychiatry, psychology, social services, legal, rehabilitative services and counselling.

NCPG was created in August 2005 and provides advice and feedback to the Government on social concerns relating to problem gambling in Singapore

It also plays a key role in supporting and implementing programmes on public education and outreach, stakeholder consultation, responsible gambling, research, and prevention and treatment services for problem gamblers and their families.

The council also oversees the application and execution of casino exclusion s and casino visit limit s in accordance with the Casino Control Act.
