18 arrested in 16-hour joint enforcement blitz

Eighteen people were arrested in an 18-hour joint enforcement operation that started at 6.30 am, on May 6.

16 of them were arrested for drug-related offences, while 2 were arrested for gambling offences.

The operation was led by Ang Mo Kio Police Division and supported by the Central Narcotics Bureau, and Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Officers from the various departments carrying out enforcement checks in public housing estates and public entertainment outlets in the vicinity of Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Punggol and Sengkang.

One entertainment outlet was found to be in breach of its license. SCDF detected two fire safety violations and will be following up on the necessary actions. Investigations into the various offences are ongoing.

If found guilty of managing a gaming house, the suspects can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 and/or jailed up to 3 years.
