2 arrested for stealing from vehicles

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested two 18-year-old men for suspected involvement in several theft from vehicle cases committed in various car parks at Jurong West.

Between October and November 2013, several theft from vehicle cases were reported at the open and multi-storey car-parks in Jurong West.

In the cases, cash cards and other items were stolen from the vehicles.

Following the reports, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations.

On Nov 22, 2013 at about 11.30am, the officers arrested both suspects in the vicinity of Choa Chu Kang and Jurong West respectively.

If found guilty, they can be sentenced to an imprisonment term of up to three years, or a fine, or both.

Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Wilson Lim, commended his officers for their excellent investigations leading to the arrest of the suspects.

As unattended valuables pose as easy targets to would-be culprits, DAC Wilson Lim reminded the public not to leave their valuables unattended or exposed inside their vehicles which would attract opportunistic criminals.

Motorists can also take other simple preventive measures such as locking their vehicles at all times and parking at well-lit places.
