20-year-old regular serviceman found dead in Sembawang Camp

SINGAPORE- A 20-year-old army regular was found dead in a toilet in Sembawang Camp at around 3.10pm on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence (Mindef), the serviceman was Specialist Cadet Trainee S. Pravinraj, a supply supervisor trainee. He had been on guard duty in the camp.

The statement added that Mindef and the Singapore Armed Forces extended their deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman and are assisting the family in this time of grief. It also said that police are investigating the incident.

A Mindef spokesman declined to give more information, citing the investigation.

According to a police statement, it received a call for assistance at about 2.49pm. The serviceman was found lying motionless in a toilet. He was subsequently pronounced dead by Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics.
