SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 52-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a housebreaking case in Jurong West.
The suspect had allegedly broken into the victim's shop at Jurong West and stole $20,000 worth of jewellery, rings and collectibles.
The victim told the police that he had arrived at his shop at about 9.30am on Wesnesday only to find that it was broken into and the interior had been ransacked.
Upon receipt of the report, officers from the Jurong Police Division worked to establish the identity of the suspect and managed to track him down. The man was arrested yesterday at Jurong East Ave 1 at about 3.30 pm, just 6 hours after the report was lodged. Police also recovered the stolen items which were in the suspect's possession.
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim, commended his officers for their swift follow-up and excellent investigations which led to the arrest.
The suspect will be charged in court on Thursday.
