21 Chief Justices from Asia Pacific in Singapore for judicial reform forum

SINGAPORE - Twenty-one Chief Justices from Asia and the Pacific region are in Singapore to attend the 5th Asia Pacific Judicial Reform Forum (APJRF) from Oct 31 to Nov 1.

The forum is hosted by the supreme court of Singapore.

The APJRF is a network of 49 superior courts and justice sector agencies seeking to advance judicial reform in the Asia Pacific Region.

During the forum, delegates will discuss issues relating to judicial reform, as well as the enhancement of judicial capabilities through training and education.

Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon said that APJRF provides a forum for participants to work on robust technical assistance programs and develop best practices.

Commenting on the training and education efforts, Chief Justice Menon said: "We also intend to extend these efforts to the training and education of Judges in the lower courts who carry out the bulk of judicial work in each jurisdiction."
