$250m matching fund for VWOs

$250m matching fund for VWOs

ANOTHER $250 million has been set aside in a matching fund to help voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) in Singapore, bringing the total to $500 million, Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing announced yesterday.

The Care and Share @ SG50 movement was set up in October 2013 to encourage firms and people to work with VWOs to help the needy.

The Government had then pledged the original $250 million to match donations raised by the VWOs.

Mr Chan, who was at the SG Care and Share Day event at the OCBC Square in Kallang, added that the additional matching funds, which are from the Government and the Tote Board, would be eligible for donations which are made until March next year.
