28-year-old arrested for molest in bus

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a male suspect, 28, for allegedly molesting a woman on board a public bus on Thursday morning.

The 23-year-old female victim had informed the captain of a bus heading towards Yishun Bus Interchange that she was molested.

The bus driver then helped to detain the suspect until police arrived to arrest him.

He will face court on Friday for the offence of outrage of modesty. If convicted, he faces up to two years in jail, a fine, and caning.

Police said in a statement that members of public are advised to stay calm when they encounter molest on public transport. They should call '999' at once or inform the bus/train captain, or seek help from other commuters immediately to report the matter.
