29 events to look out for at Singapore Maritime Week 2014

SINGAPORE - The ninth edition of the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2014 was launched by Minister for Transport, Mr Lui Tuck Yew, at VivoCity on Sunday.

Driven by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), SMW 2014 will feature 29 events from April 6 to 11.

Upcoming events include maritime conferences, seminars and high level networking functions for industry participants.

Chief Executive of MPA Mr Andrew Tan said: "Singapore is a leading international maritime centre and has one of the world's busiest ports. The Singapore Maritime Week is an important industry event focusing on Singapore's role in international shipping. We look forward to welcoming some 20,000 maritime representatives across all sectors of the international maritime industry to Singapore during the week."

More than 1,300 participants from different age groups took part in the Amazing Maritime Hunt on Sunday morning. Participants took part in a series of fun-filled games and activities based on the maritime theme. The winning team walked away with $2,500. The team from Keppel FELS took home the Best Corporate Team accolade while the Best School Team was won by students from Victoria Junior College.

To date, about 100,000 visitors have attended the SMW 2014 exhibitions at VivoCity, Jurong Point and Parkway Parade from March 31.
