3 cases of kidnapping for ransom in last 13 years: Police

A bag containing $2 million cash left at Sembawang Park by Sheng Siong CEO Lim Hock Chee, after receiving a call from a stranger saying that his mother was kidnapped.

Queries were raised by the media during a press conference held today regarding the kidnapping of Sheng Siong CEO Lim Hock Chee's 79-year-old mother.

How many kidnap cases were there in recent years?

During the earlier press conference, we shared a reply to a forum letter that was issued on June 14, 2010.

In that reply, it was mentioned that in the last ten years, there were three substantiated cases of kidnapping for ransom and all cases were successfully solved by the Police.

Hence, prior to the latest case that was shared today, it is accurate to say that in the last 13 years, there were three substantiated cases of kidnapping for ransom and all cases were successfully solved by the police.

What is the highest amount of ransom involved all cases recorded thus far?

The highest amount of ransom involved thus far is $2 million.

What time will the suspects (of the kidnapping of Mr Lim's mother) be charged in court tomorrow (Jan 10)?

They will be charged in Court 26 tomorrow at 9am.
