3 taken to hospital after fire at Pasir Panjang Terminal

SINGAPORE - Three people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out at Pasir Panjang Terminal on Wednesday (Feb 10) evening.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a news release on Wednesday evening that it was alerted after plumes of smoke were seen at the terminal at around 6.03pm.

The SCDF dispatched two fire engines, two red rhinos, two fire bikes, two ambulances, nine support vehicles and one marine firefighting vessel to the location.

Upon arriving, SCDF personnel found the PSA's in-house emergency response team on board a berthed vessel, using a water jet to disperse smoke coming from a shipping container. Twenty crew members and three dock workers on the ship had evacuated safely.

Three people were taken to the National University Hospital after experiencing discomfort in their nose and ears.

SCDF vehicles continue to remain at the terminal as a precautionary measure, said SCDF.
