SINGAPORE - What was declared to be 100 rolls of 'Single-Face Roll Papers" actually turned out to be 3,346 cartons of contraband cigarettes.
The Immigration & Checkpoints Auhtority (ICA) arrested a 39-year-old Malaysian man, the lorry driver who made the false declaration.
ICA officers found the contraband cigarettes conceled in a modified compartment on the roof of the lorry.
The stash amounts to $259,650 and $26,140 in potential duty and Goods and Services Tax respectively.
The case is under investigation.
