4 arrested for stealing motor vehicles in separate cases

SINGAPORE - Three men and one woman, aged between 20 and 28, have been arrested for three separate incidents of stealing motor vehicles.

A company-owned lorry was reported missing in the vicinity on Feb 5 by the manager. He alerted the police after spotting the lorry along CTE the next day.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division trailed the lorry to a carpark around Ang Mo Kio Street 31 with the manager's assistance. Two suspects, aged 20 and 21, were arrested.

In the second case, officers from the same police division saw a stolen motorcycle ridden by a female rider in the vicinity of Admiralty Link on Feb 6 at about 9pm. The vehicle matched the description of a motorcycle which was reported stolen on Jan 28 at Springside Green.

The motorcyclist tried to escape after seeing the officers but was subsequently arrested.

In the last case, a 28-year-old suspect was arrested after he was involved in a road traffic accident at Hougang Avenue 8 on the night of Feb 6.

Traffic Police officers responded to the accident, in which the stolen motorcycle had skidded and established that it was reported stolen at Yishun Avenue 5 on Nov 28, 2013.

The 20-year-old suspect for the first case and the 28-year-old suspect for the third case will be charged in court on Feb 8.

Investigations against the remaining two suspects are on-going.

If convicted, all four suspects could face a jail term up to seven years and be liable to a fine. Their motoring licenses would also be subject to disqualification.
