43-year-old female thief arrested

SINGAPORE - A 43-year-old woman has been arrested by the police for a case of theft committed in the vicinity of Tiong Bahru Road.

On March 12, at around 12.30pm, the victim reported to the police that her wallet containing ATM and EZlink cards had been left on a bench in front of a residential block along Henderson Road.

She was notified earlier in the day by the bank that two unauthorised cash withdrawals amounting to $160 were made with the missing ATM cards at Redhill MT station on the same day.

With this information, officers from Clementi Police Division conducted investigations and established the identity of the suspect. The woman, 43, was subsequently arrested in the vicinity of Henderson Road on April 14, at around 1pm.

The victim's wallet, containing ATM cards and EZlink cards, was also seized from the suspect's residence as case exhibits.

The female suspect will be charged in court on April 15 for theft which carries a jail term of up to three years, or fine or both. If found guilty of offence of dishonest misappropriation of property, she faces a jail term which may extend to two years, or fine, or both.
