[UPDATE 11.53 PM]
A 67-year-old male Singaporean (Case 1516), died yesterday (May 15) from complications due to Covid-19. He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 7, and had a history of ischaemic heart disease, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Sengkang General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported 465 new coronavirus cases in Singapore today (May 16).
Out of these, there are five cases in the community (four Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, one Work Pass holder), three cases involving work permit holders residing outside dormitories, and 457 cases of work permit holders residing in dormitories.
There are no imported cases and 1,094 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
Of the 1,111 cases who are still in hospital, most are in stable condition or improving. 16 are in critical condition, while 17,881 cases who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
MOH added that the lower number of cases today is partly due to fewer tests being processed as one testing laboratory is reviewing its processes following an earlier apparatus calibration issue, and will need time to ramp up its testing capacity.
This brings the total number of cases to 27,356, with 8,342 patients discharged and 22 deaths.
