5 men arrested for allegedly robbing victim of mobile phone and $800

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested five men who are believed to have assaulted and robbed a victim along Desker Road last Sunday.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, reported to the police police at 11.55pm that he was robbed of his mobile phone and $800 cash.

He told the police that he was walking along Desker Road when the suspects confronted him and allegedly started assaulting him before robbing him of his properties.

After establishing the identities of the suspects, police arrested the first suspect along Changi Business Park Street 3 yesterday.

Through follow-up investigations, police arrested the remaining four suspects at Syed Alwi Road and Cantonment Close.

The victim's stolen mobile phone was also recovered.

The four suspects will be charged in court tomorrow for robbery with hurt.

If found guilty, they face a jail term of up to 20 years and shall also be liable to not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
