$50 million to boost Changi Airport as an air hub

SINGAPORE - As part of the Growth and Assistance Incentive (GAIN) programme announced in June 2014, the Changi Airport Group (CAG) will be offering landing fee rebates for long-haul flights and incentives for airlines to grow transfer traffic through Changi Airport.

These measures, designed to strengthen the Singapore air hub, would amount to $50 million over the next 19 months for airlines operating here.

Mr Lim Ching Kiat, CAG's Senior Vice President for Market Development, said that "airlines could be facing yield and cost pressures in the present environment".

Therefore, to help airlines, CAG will offer a 50 per cent rebate on landing fees for all non-stop long-haul passenger flights from Sept 2014 to March 31, 2016.

In addition, the group is launching a Gateway Incentive in Oct 2014 to motivate airlines to grow their transfer traffic at Changi Airport.
