65-year-old woman killed after driver allegedly steps on wrong pedal

A 65-year-old female pedestrian was killed following an accident at a car-park in front of Block 203, Petir Road in Bukit Panjang this morning (Aug 26).

The driver involved in the accident, a 69-year-old woman, has been arrested.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the pedestrian had passed by the car-park after buying groceries.

A car then ran her over before crashing into the void deck of the block. The driver is suspected to have stepped on the wrong pedal.

A police spokesperson told Stomp:

"Police received a call at about 10.52am, informing us of an accident at a car-park in front of Block 203 Petir Road.

"Upon Police's arrival, it was established that an accident involving a car and a pedestrian had occurred at the said location.

"The 65-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"The 69-year-old female driver was arrested for causing death by negligent act.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
