SINGAPORE - About 650 Volkswagen diesel vehicles registered in Singapore are affected by the recent diesel-emission scandal.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a statement on Monday (Oct 12) that Volkswagen Singapore had declared that number to it.
The vehicles are fitted with the Type EA 189 EU5 diesel engine and defeat device to fool emission tests. Volkswagen admitted last month that millions of vehicles worldwide were fitted with the software to detect and fool emission tests.
NEA said that it has suspended approvals for all affected vehicle models and no new registrations will be allowed. "The suspension will be in place until Volkswagen has completed rectification of all affected vehicles," it said in the statement.
