Abigail Sin excited about ChildAid

Piano prodigy Abigail Sin has performed around the world - yet the chance to return to more familiar surroundings has left her flushed with excitement.

She took part in the ChildAid charity concert when it was launched in 2005 and will be performing at its 10th edition in December. She said it will be the "greatest production" that the team has put up to date.

"The show has gotten so much bigger than the first year. I'm excited to see familiar faces and meet the new young child performers," said the 22-year-old who has played in London's Wigmore Hall and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

She will be performing with violinist Gabriel Ng and the Orchestra of the Music Makers at this year's ChildAid, which will feature about 270 performers.

The money raised from the concert at Marina Bay Sands' (MBS) Sands Theatre on Dec 5 and 6 will go to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and the Business Times Budding Artists Fund, which seek to help underprivileged children.

Last year, ChildAid raised $2.035 million.

MBS, the official venue partner, has been supporting the project since 2012. Its president and chief executive officer, Mr George Tanasijevich, said: "This year is going to be especially meaningful, given that ChildAid is celebrating its 10 years of giving back."
