Alleged serial underwear thief nabbed

SINGAPORE - A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing female undergarments in the estates of Strathmore, Queenstown and Redhill.

Police were alerted to a case along Strathmore Avenue today (Jan 22), and managed to establish the identity of the suspect following ground enquiries and other investigations.

The suspect was later arrested along Margaret Drive. He was found in possession of a piece of female undergarment which was seized as case exhibit, police said in a statement, adding that he is believed to be involved in other similar cases around the area.

The suspect will be charged in court tomorrow (Jan 23) with the offence of theft. If convicted, he may be jailed up to three years and/or fined.
