ASEAN Para Games: Sailors Yap, Tan and Teo bag two more golds for Singapore

SINGAPORE - Sailors clinched two more golds for Team Singapore at the ASEAN Para Games on Tuesday, winning the women's Hansa 2.3 and open double-handed Hansa 303 events.

Yap Qian Yin won the women's Hansa 2.3, while Jovin Tan and Anthony Teo won the Hansa 303. This takes Singapore's total tally to 22 golds.

A lack of winds at the Marina Bay meant sailors had to endure a wait of more than six hours, before races for the day were able to resume in the late afternoon.

Yap was the clear winner in the women's Hansa 2.3 after winning all nine out of 10 races held. The Philippines' Cherrie Samonte Pinpin took second place. Singapore won another bronze through Ng Xiu Zhen.

In the open double-handed Hansa 303, Tan and Teo took gold while Nurul Amilin Balawi and Mustafah Junell of Malaysia were second. Singapore's Desiree Lim and Glen Tan took bronze.

Aaron Per, sailing in the men's Hansa 2.3, added another bronze to the tally.
