Auxiliary guard misfires gun at Aetos headquarters

SINGAPORE - An auxiliary guard did not follow proper procedures while returning his gun, leading to a misfiring, reported Shin Min, the Chinese evening daily newspaper.

A reader had called the paper to relate the incident, which occured this morning at 9:23am at AETOS Security Management Pte Ltd on West Coast Road.

The rare misfiring reportedly took place at the firearm return area near the canteen in Aetos.

No one was injured.

Shin Min understands that the guard, who is in his 30s, did not follow appropriate return procedures and also did not notice when he had accidentally pulled the trigger.

There were around 30 people sitting in the canteen when Shin Min reporters arrived at the scene. Two police vehicles were parked outside and seven to eight policemen were seen walking into an office.

Police have confirmed the incident and investigations are ongoing.

Aetos had declined to comment on the matter.
