Aviation community and their families raise $250k for charity at special run

SINGAPORE - Close to 5,000 of the Singapore aviation community and their families gathered at the Sports Hub on Saturday morning for the biennial Aviation Run.

The run, which is in its fourth edition, was organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), to bring the aviation community together to contribute back to society. Around 4,700 individuals from over 100 organisations and their families took part.

The running event raised $250,000 for the Community Chest, which supports some 80 charities here. "It is a privilege to be part of a community that cares for and supports those who are less fortunate," noted Mr Kevin Shun, director-general of the CAAS. He added that the aviation community has raised more than $1 million for the Community Chest over the last six years.

Community Chest's honorary treasurer Robert Chew added through such initiatives, the aviation community is able to help those in need realise their potential.
