Banding together for charity

Poi Ching School principal Andrew Mah, 54, and breast cancer survivor Julie Seah, 66, weaving friendship bands yesterday for the Race against Cancer (RAC).

About 77 teachers from the school joined 27 volunteers to make 1,000 of these bracelets which will be given to participants of the run on Sept 13 at Angsana Green in East Coast Park.

Organised by the Singapore Cancer Society, the 7th annual RAC aims to raise $1 million for cancer treatment subsidies, welfare assistance, rehabilitation, hospice care as well as free cancer screenings, research and public education initiatives.
