Big fight over $44 pay

SINGAPORE - He just wanted his wages, but got into a fight instead.

Allegedly short-changed of $44 from his pay, part-time waiter Ning Mingchuan, 25, took the matter up with his employment agency at the company's Balestier Road office.

The manager, 31, known only as Mr Zhang, told Lianhe Wanbao that the incident took place on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Zhang claimed that Mr Ning, who hails from China, turned up at the office and insisted on getting his money, despite payday being only on Sept 15. He then turned violent, swinging a chair at Mr Zhang and slapping his face.

However, Mr Ning told Lianhe Wanbao that the manager was the one who beat him up.

He added that he intended to lodge a police report, and had also filed a complaint on Friday with the Ministry of Manpower.

Police arrived and both were taken to hospital, where they received outpatient treatment.
