Big steps and small to raise $300k for the elderly

Close to 5,000 people walked along Gardens by the Bay yesterday morning to raise funds for needy old people.

The 45-minute group walk was organised by non-profit group Habitat for Humanity. Participants raised $300,000 for Project HomeWorks, which funds volunteers who do clean-up work and paint jobs for old folk living in one-room rental flats.

Among the contingent were actor Paul Foster, travel host Anita Kapoor and former Nominated MP Eunice Olsen, and more than 50 foreign workers from the Philippines, India and Myanmar.
