British man jailed over cat attack

LONDON - A British man was on Tuesday jailed for 18 weeks after pleading guilty to drunkenly kicking to death a cat that had just been run over by a car.

CCTV footage showed Anthony Delaney, 30, approaching the ailing animal on a road near Manchester, northern England, before kicking it in the air.

He was also seen aiming a follow up kick on the animal, which died as a result of its injuries.

The magistrates also banned Delaney from keeping animals for five years.
