A water pipe burst in the wee hours of the morning at Choa Chu Kang Loop, sending water high into the air and flooding the area.

According to witnesses, at its strongest, the flow of water was strong enough to reach the second floor of flats.

Local citizen journalism site Stomp, received pictures and comments from contributors, Wai Keong, Luft, Tee, Toh, Miss Tan and Abdul Arif.

Wai Keong wrote:

"I was going to work when I heard a whooshing sound, looked down from my flat and saw this 'fountain' spilling out of a drain.

"I headed down, snapped these two pictures and left.

"I suppose someone got tired of the dry spell and decided to do something to prove a point.

While Tee said:

"This happened this morning at Block 342 Choa Chu Kang Loop.

"It was one storey high and many people were taking photos.

"It was not fixed as of 9.30am.

Toh told the site:

"A water pipe burst at CCK Loop.

"And then came the rain.

"Our foreign workers are braving the rain to contain the issue."

Also, Abdul Arif commented that the burst pipe poses a potential threat to vehicles parked nearby.

"At 6.15am today, a PUB main water pipe burst opposite Block 342 Choa Chu Kang Loop causing major flooding around the estate.

"At the time of writing, 8.19am, there does not seem to be any solution yet laid out by PUB. What are PUB doing? Hundreds and maybe thousands of gallons of potable water are being wasted away. If the situation is not brought under control, I worry for the vehicles parked on the basement carpark just behind the block."
