Cannabis worth $34,000 seized from man

SUNGAI PETANI - Police have arrested a man and seized 56 slabs of cannabis weighing 54kg from a house in Kuala Ketil here.

Kuala Muda deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Mohamad said the compressed cannabis had a street value of RM86,400 (S$34,000).

He said the slabs were seized from the 33-year-old man at his house in Taman Sutera on Wednesday.

"A team led by Insp Shuhaimi Joohari raided the house and found two big black plastic bags, one filled with 24 slabs and the other with 21 slabs and 11 slabs of compressed dried leaves believed to be cannabis," he said.

Supt Mohd Sabri said the cannabis was believed to be for distribution in the northern region.

"A Proton Iswara and a Proton Wira were also confiscated by police," he told a press conference yesterday.
