Celebrate Lunar New Year with special Zodiac Goat stamps

SINGAPORE - In lieu of the upcoming Year of the Goat, SingPost is releasing its Zodiac Goat stamps to commemorate a new year in the Chinese lunar calendar.

Beginning in 2008, this stamp issue is the eighth of 12 sets of stamps in the second zodiac stamp series released by SingPost.

The designs for the entire zodiac series were created by Mr Leo Teck Chong and are based on a design concept of "roundness", signifying fullness, wealth and prosperity.

Each set of stamps comes in three denominations: 1st local, $0.70 and $1.30.

Stamp enthusiasts may be interested in the limited edition Collectors' Sheet that costs $16.80. It uses offset lithography with a mixture of shiny varnish along with silver ink.

Also for purchase are the pre-cancelled First Day Cover that comes with the complete set of stamps at $3.10, the Presentation Pack at $4.05, as well as the 1st Local self-adhesive sheetlet at $3.

All first day covers will also be cancelled with a special Zodiac Goat postmark.

The stamps are available for purchase from Jan 9 at all post offices as well as at the Singapore Philatelic Museum. They can also be purchased online at www.stampdelight.com.
