Changes to Havelock Road nightclub scene: Remaining high-end KTV lounges to move out

SINGAPORE - The three remaining high-end KTV lounges on Havelock Road will cease operations at the end of this month, after their leases expire.

Tiananmen KTV & Lounge, Club Infinitude and Golden Million, which are currently located in the annex block of the Furama RiverFront Hotel, are expected to move out after their leases were not renewed.

A spokesman for Furama, in response to queries by Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News, confirmed the impending exit of the three lounges.

The spokesman added that the venues will then undergo renovation, with new tenants set to move into the premises in the second half of the year.

The spokesman told Shin Min that discussions between Furama and the potential tenants are still ongoing and details will be revealed after the tenants are finalised. The potential new tenants do not include the three KTV lounges, Shin Min reported.

The New Paper on Sunday had reported in July last year that the owning company of Furama RiverFront Hotel had intended to change the concept of its annex block this year, in order to better complement the hotel offerings to its local and international guests.

With planned conversion of the current space to retail, showroom, office and commercial usage, there had been interest and commitments from various potential tenants.

Las Vegas De'Palace was the first of the high-end KTV lounges at the annex block to close its doors on June 27 last year, after its lease expired and nearly 10 years of being in business.

Shin Min reported that it is still looking for new premises, but it has yet to find a suitable location.

The lounge had identified three or four possible venues, but some of them were too small in floor size while others did not want to rent their premises to a KTV lounge.
