Changi Airport's press statement

Temporary closure of Changi Airport T1 open-air car park and other ground transport changes to take place over this weekend

Over this weekend, there will be temporary changes to the parking and pick-up arrangements at Changi Airport's Terminal 1 (T1) that airport users should note. From 2.00am on Friday, 17 October, to 2.00am on Tuesday, 21 October, the open-air car park fronting T1 will be temporarily closed. During this four-day period, the T1 Car Park will be relocated to Terminal 2 (T2). In addition, the T1 Arrival pick-up point will be shifted to a new location outside the T1 Arrival Hall.

Road signage and lane markings along the roadways leading to and within Changi Airport will guide motorists to the relocated facilities. Within the terminals, airport signage will also be put in place at strategic points to ensure easy way-finding by airport users. In addition, airport staff including Changi Experience Agents (roving customer service personnel) and traffic marshals will be deployed on the ground to assist airport users and motorists during this period.

Three videos to guide drivers to the relocated facilities are available on changiairport.com/T1carparkchanges. There is also useful information on the webpage about the respective ground transport changes, and a map for airport users' reference. Airport users who plan to visit T1 from 17 to 21 October, in particular those who drive, are advised to look out for the signs, and follow the directions accordingly.

To facilitate convenient transfers between T1 and T2, a free shuttle bus service will be introduced, to supplement the existing Skytrain service. The shuttle service will operate daily at regular intervals, with convenient boarding and alighting points at T1 and T2. The bus will be wheelchair-accessible and commuter-friendly, with a single-step, low-entry design, making the boarding and alighting process easy and hassle-free.

The temporary ground transport arrangements at T1 from 17 to 21 October are part of a dry-run conducted by Changi Airport Group (CAG) in preparation of the closure of the T1 open-air car park in the last quarter of 2014. CAG has planned for a comprehensive series of measures to ensure that T1 users' parking and ground transport needs continue to be met with minimal disruption when the open-air car park closes.

The dry-run allows CAG to assess the operational effectiveness of its proposed measures, and make enhancements where necessary, before the actual closure of the open-air car park. The date for this will be announced in due course.
