City Harvest Church trial: Not on trial, but all eyes on singer Ho

SINGAPORE - She arrived holding her husband's hand and left the same way.

Singer Ho Yeow Sun, popularly known as Sun Ho, was all smiles as she stepped out of the silver SUV with husband Kong Hee, the founder of City Harvest Church.

Media and church members surrounded the couple as they made their way up the stairs to the Subordinate Courts at about 9.15am.

Kong is among the church leaders accused of misusing more than $50 million of church funds.

Dressed in a vest-shirt and jeans combo, Ms Ho sported kohl-lined eyes that ended with a wing tip at each corner.

She wore her hair loosely, the dyed locks reaching almost to her waist.

Her shoes were a shiny black, topped off with silver stilettos that glimmered as they caught the light.

Head-turner

Heads turned when she walked into the courtroom, side-by-side with Kong.

Though Ms Ho is not on trial, all eyes were on her.

People walked up to say hi to the couple, including senior counsel Michael Khoo, who shook Kong's hand and said: "Morning, pastor."

Mr Khoo is former investment manager Chew Eng Han's lawyer.

As proceedings got underway, Ms Ho sat in Row Three, next to some female friends.

During the break, she walked up to the dock. Kong stood next to her. The couple smiled as they spoke in hushed tones, with Kong's second-in-command Tan Ye Peng joining the conversation.

Ms Ho was friendly with the two women on trial as well - finance manager Sharon Tan and ex-finance manager Serina Wee.

Both women smiled when they saw her and walked up to chat.

No matter where she went, Ms Ho was never alone. Even when she stepped outside the courtroom during a morning break, she was flanked by two women.

An entourage surrounded Kong and her as they left in the afternoon, smiling and holding hands.
