Coldstream Guardsmen present commemorative book to President Tan at Istana

SINGAPORE - It was an unusual sight to behold, in Singapore at least. A group of Coldstream Guardsmen, decked in their ceremonial dress and signature bearskin caps, paid a courtesy call to President Tony Tan at the Istana today.

More commonly seen outside Buckingham Palace, the Coldstream Guardsmen were accompanied by the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Singapore Mr Scott Wightman during the visit.

The Coldstream Guardsmen, who are in Singapore to participate in the festivities for the Queen's Birthday celebrations organised by the British High Commission, presented President Tan with a commemorative book of President's State Visit to the United Kingdom in October 2014.

President Tan in turn presented Sergeant Major Sutherland of the Coldstream Guardsmen with a SG50 commemorative book gift to be conveyed to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Ministry of Foreign Affair said in a statement today.

During their visit here, the Coldstream Guardsmen visited several social welfare organisations and schools, and will also visit the Kranji War Cemetery.
