Commissioner of Singapore Police Force conferred top Malaysian police honour

SINGAPORE - The Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Mr Ng Joo Hee was conferred a prestigious Malaysian police award at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 15.

He was presented with the Panglima Gagah Pasukan Polis (Order of Police Heroism - Knight Grand Commander) by His Majesty, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at the Istana Negara

The award is the highest police award that the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) can confer on an individual for outstanding contributions and cooperation with the RMP.

In a statement today, the police said that Commissioner Ng has actively fostered closer and stronger relations between the SPF and the RMP since his appointment in 2010, and that the award was recognition of his continued commitment in enhancing cooperation and fostering close ties between the two police forces in the fight against crime."

The police added that SPF and RMP enjoy an excellent relationship with close cooperation in the areas of investigations, maritime security operations, information sharing, as well as training exchanges, which have yielded significant operational benefits for both forces in combating terrorism and transnational crime.

"I am honoured to received this award on behalf of the men and women of the SPF," said Commissioner Ng.

"The award is a testimony to the strong working ties and friendship enjoyed between our two forces, and we will continue to work closely with the RMP in our joint fight against crime and wrong-doing."
