Dogs have their day

SINGAPORE - There was something for all manner of pets and their owners at the inaugural Pet Expo, which opened on Friday at Singapore Expo Hall 6.

For pampered pooches, there was a doggie buffet. The event, which runs till tomorrow, features talks, workshops and demonstrations.

Some dogs and their owners who were there yesterday were: (clockwise from top left) Ms Susan Fong, 42, with her poodle Mini-Moon; Ms Joanna Koh, 32, with her chow chow Woola; Ms Gena Wee, 51, with her shih tzu and Scottish terrier mix Lea; Ms Aisan Tay, 37, with her Italian greyhound Emma; Ms Wang Meisen, 18, with her golden retriever Apple, and ragamuffin cat Kasuro; Ms Lyn Wee, 65, with her border collie Shado; Ms Serene Chia, 56, with her chihuahua Pepi; and Joshua Ho, 18, with his dachshund Lisa. Singapore's pet population is expected to grow from 789,300 in 2011 to 824,300 in 2016.
