Don't read them if you don't like them

What's wrong with us Singaporeans?

As a multiracial and multi-religious country, we should be open-minded and accept the world as it is, and yet we seem to be a nation divided over a few books about same sex relationships and raising kids.

If we are not already the laughing stock of world, we will soon be, with the National Library Board (NLB) threatening to pulp the books, and a campaign raging on the sidelines to keep these books on the shelves.

I'm neither for the pink movement nor the pro family group (by the way, I'm straight).

But if these books make for unhealthy reading, don't borrow them for your kids, and explain to them why they shouldn't read them.

Don't leave that responsibility to the NLB, which is there to promote reading.

And if these books are so bad, how is it that they are being sold freely here? Shouldn't the authorities have banned them in the first place?
