Drugs worth more than $100k seized in 2 operations

SINGAPORE - Drugs estimated to be worth more than $101,000 were seized by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in two separate operations on Wednesday.

In the first operation which took place in Ang Mo Kio, officers recovered about 500g of cannabis from a motorcycle belonging to a suspected drug trafficker from Malaysia. Officers had been deployed to keep an eye on the 39-year-old.

He was seen meeting up with a 33-year-old Singaporean man, and officers moved in to arrest the two shortly after they parted ways.

Cash amounting to $1,200 was found on the Singaporean suspect. The cannabis seized is believed to have a street value of about $16,500.

About 739g of heroin and 44g of 'Ice' were seized in the second operation, in which officers were also observing two suspected drug traffickers, this time in Paya Lebar.

Both men, a 33-year-old Singaporean and a a 21-year-old Malaysian, were arrested after their meeting with each other.

Cash amounting to $7,750 was found on the Malaysian suspect. The drugs seized in this operation are believed to have a street value of over $84,000.

Investigations against all four suspects are ongoing.
