Dry spell takes a toll on Istana grounds

SINGAPORE - The grounds of the Istana were parched when Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong took a walk on Sunday evening. He posted this picture on his Facebook page last night, and said he hopes the rain will return soon.

Singapore is lucky to have two other sources of water - desalination and Newater, he said, "otherwise our reservoirs would be emptying out, and we might be in real difficulty".

He urged everyone to conserve water, and "use only what you really need".
