Duo arrested for stealing EZ-Link card readers from 5 buses

Two young men have been arrested for allegedly stealing EZ-Link card readers from SMRT buses.

According to the police, a total of five card readers were reported stolen between Jan 21 to 24.

The machines were taken from five SMRT buses and were discovered missing before the bus captains commenced their shifts.

Officers from Jurong Police Division and Public Transport Security Command conducted extensive investigations and arrested the duo on Mar 4.

The two men, aged 21 and 25, will be charged in court on Mar 6.

If convicted, they face a jail term up to three years, a fine, or both.
