SINGAPORE - Two public-spirited members of the public helped to nab a 41-year-old snatch-theft suspect on Wednesday morning.
They had pursued the suspect after a 67-year-old woman trying to give chase shouted for help.
The suspect had apparently come from behind to snatch a gold chain around her neck as she was walking along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3. The alleged thief fled in the direction of Choa Chu Kang Central.
The Samaritans detained the suspect at Block 227, Choa Chu Kang Central, and he was eventually arrested after the police were called.
The suspect is expected to be charged in court today with committing snatch theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum jail term of seven years and is liable for caning.
