Emergency preparedness exercise on Monday

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Police Force (SPF) will be conducting an emergency preparedness exercise codenamed 'Exercise Heartbeat' on Monday, Nov 18.

It will be conducted in two segments. The first will take place at Orchard Road from 3am to 6am and the second one at Biopolis Way and Raffles Place from 8am to 12pm.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and members of the Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) will participate in the exercise, which will involve 12 SSWG buildings. These are:

a) Plaza Singapura;

b) The Atrium @ Orchard;

c) Concorde Hotel Singapore;

d) JTC's Centros Building at Biopolis, one-north;

e) Singapore Land Tower;

f) HSBC Building;

g) The Arcade;

h) Ocean Financial Centre;

i) 20 Collyer Quay;

j) Bank of China Building;

k) Maybank Tower; and

l) One Raffles Place

Special effects will be used during the exercise, and members of the public are advised not to be alarmed.

Road closures

Some roads and lanes will be closed during the exercise on Monday. These are:

- Extreme left lane of Battery Road and Chulia Street (between the carpark of Singapore Land Tower and the driveway of One Raffles Place) from 12am to 1pm

- Biopolis Way, Biopolis Street (between Biopolis Drive and Biopolis Road) and Biopolis Road (between Biopolis Street and Biopolis Way) from 6.30 am to 10.30 am

- The carriageway of Handy Road in the direction towards Plaza Singapura (between Oldham Lane to the carpark of Plaza Singapura) from 1am to 6am

During these periods, access into the above-mentioned roads and lanes will only be granted to police and emergency vehicles.

Parking restrictions along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately or causing obstruction will be towed away.
