ERP rates lowered for year-end school holidays

SINGAPORE - The Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates for cars at many gantries will be lowered by up to $1 at specified time periods for the December 2015 school holidays.

The Land Transport Authority said in a statement on Monday (Nov 16) that it has completed its review of ERP rates for the school holiday period.

The revised rates will take effect from Saturday (Nov 21), the start of the school holidays, and will last until Dec 31. ERP rates will revert to pre-school holiday rates from Jan 2 next year, LTA said.

The next ERP rate review will be in Feb 2016.

LTA also said that Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) operating hours for foreign-registered cars and motorcycles will end earlier on weekdays, at 12 noon, for the school-holiday period from Nov 21 to Dec 31. Drivers of foreign-registered vehicles will not need to pay VEP fees if they drive into Singapore after 12 noon on weekdays and leave by 2am the next day.

This is part of "on-going initiatives to attract foreign visitors to Singapore" during the school holiday period, it said.
