Facing trial, he broke into friend's home

Despite being in the midst of a court case for housebreaking, a student broke into his friend's flat and stole money.

Mohammad Suffian Mohammad Sapri, 23, then a student at Singapore International Sports Academy, was sentenced yesterday to 21 months.

He had pleaded guilty to housebreaking and stealing $3,100 worth of property from a flat in Woodlands Street 82, and later breaking into his friend's home in Sims Drive and stealing $250.

A district court heard that on the morning of Oct 21 last year, he went to his friend's flat after his court mention for the first break-in and theft, committed on Sept 20.

Suffian used spanners he found on a shoe rack to force his way into the unit through the main door.
