FairPrice extends stores' opening hours for Chinese New Year

SINGAPORE - Supermarket chain FairPrice will be extending the opening hours of its stores in the lead up to Chinese New Year and keeping more stores open throughout the festive season.

A total of 25 stores will remain open on Feb 8 and 9, the first and second day of Chinese New Year. This is more than the 21 stores last year.

On Feb 6, 92 stores will operate round the clock to cater to shoppers doing last minute shopping for their reunion dinners, which is traditionally held on the eve of Chinese New Year, said FairPrice in a media release on Friday(jan 29).

"By increasing the number of stores that remain open during such occasions, we ensure that customers can continue to have access to daily essentials and festive-related items conveniently," said Mr Seah Kian Peng, FairPrice's chief executive.

Currently, 59 of FairPrice's 132 stores are open 24 hours a day. From Saturday(Jan 30) to Feb 5, another store at Block 612 Punggol Drive will operate round the clock as well.

Over the same period, another 58 stores will have their opening hours extended to 10pm, 11pm or midnight.

Normal operating hours will resume on the third day of Chinese New Year, Feb 10.

There will be no deliveries on the first two days of Chinese New Year. Deliveries will resume on Feb 10.
