A fire broke out at a POSB branch at Rivervale Plaza in Sengkang on Sunday afternoon.
According to an Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesperson, a call was received at 1.24pm.
Two fire engines, a Red Rhino, three support vehicles and an ambulance was dispatched.
The fire started from an air-conditioning unit, but by the time officers arrived, it had burned itself out.
SCDF said about 20 people had self-evacuated from the outlet, and no injuries were reported.
A Stomp reader, Aw, said people were 'panicky' when the fire started.
"It just happened so fast. The fire started from POSB's ceiling," wrote Aw in a Facebook message to Stomp.
"Lots of shopkeepers rushed to close shop. They were very panicky."
The SCDF said the cause of fire is being investigated.
