JOHOR BARU - A Form Three student claimed that her boyfriend and two others robbed her house of valuables.
But when the police launched an investigation after she lodged a report, they found that she was lying.
She had earlier lodged a police report that the robbery occurred at her house at 8.15pm on Feb 4 in Taman Nusa Bestari here.
In her report, she claimed that her 17-year-old boyfriend had called her and wanted to see her. Her mother was away at work at a factory at that time.
She said the boyfriend wanted to meet her at the back lane of her house.
According to her report, when she opened the door, he and his two friends barged into the house. Her boyfriend placed a knife on her neck and abdomen before he and his friends stole the valuables.
Nusajaya OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said when the police questioned her on the case, she admitted that they had staged the robbery and she had lied to her mother.
He said the male suspect, who was waiting for his SPM examination results, and his two friends, aged 21, were detained at a house in Taman Mutiara Rini two days after the incident.
"We recovered two laptops, two mobile phones, jewellery and a mobile SIM card from the three.
"The girl was detained at her house. All four suspects have been remanded until Feb 20 to assist in investigations," he added.
In a separate case, a woman and a man were detained on suspicion of being involved in car thefts.
Supt Noor Hashim said the 36-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were arrested at a budget hotel at Taman Nusa Bestari on Feb 14.
They were said to have been involved in the theft of a car in the housing estate earlier.
"The two will check into budget hotels in a certain area and later in the night, they would steal cars parked in the area," he added.
