Former English high court judge appointed to Singapore International Commercial Court

SINGAPORE - Sir Henry Bernard Eder has been appointed by president Mr Tony Tan Keng Yam to be the international judge to the Singapore International Commercial Court bench.

His appointment brings the total number of international judges in the court to 12.

Sir Bernard will be sworn in on May 7, 2015 at a ceremony to be held at the Istana.

Now 62, Sir Bernard formerly served as a judge of the High Court in England and Wales and was assigned to the Queen's Bench Division and the Commercial Court from 2011 to Apr 1 this year.

Sir Bernard, who is currently the Senior Editor of Scrutton on Charterparties and Bills of Lading, is regarded as an expert in the areas of commercial disputes, civil claims and international arbitration.
